So I turned 30 last week, which pretty much ... sucks. I remember being in high school and thinking that 30 seemed so old. Now that I am older and wiser I realize that 30 seems ... so old.

I suppose it is due in part to this depressing fact that I have started to get back into mountain biking. I say "back into" because I think there was about a two week period just after high school when I was "into it" the first time. It is fun, just dangerous enough, great exercise and I can go it alone when I want to. This is important because most of my friends have other hobbies to deal with their varying degrees of midlife crisis. 

I used to think that trading my Mustang for a Harley was my mid-midlife crisis, but now I realize that I just thought motorcycles were cool. Maybe it was a pre-mid-midlife crisis. Anyhow I have decided to sell the Harley and get a car again. Maybe a Hybrid or car that runs on tap water and banana peels (do they make those yet)?

I wonder what I will be into when I turn 40 .. sailing around the world? trying to become the world champion hot dog eater? In a mental institution from ten years of having twins (don't get me started on turning 45 and having two teenage girls)?

The girls have both been feeling under the weather for the last week or so. They seemed to be feeling a bit better today so we hopped in the pool for some floaty time.

As I type this, the temperature outside is 104 degrees. Ah sweet sweet Fresno. Since it is pretty much too hot to go out and do anything (for fear that the stroller wheels might melt) we have been dividing our time between the air conditioned house and swimming pool.

Jamie picked up a pair of life jackets for the girls to sport when they are in the pool. They do their job, which is to keep the girls afloat and on their back, but playing with them on is kind of tough. Like if they just want to stand on the step and play, they can't because they just float away like a buoy. I think that Chloe and Claire like their little floating cars the best so far.

Aside from pool time we have just been rolling around on the floor playing peek-a-boo and generally having an awesome weekend.

We headed over to Santa Maria last weekend for Markie and Stacy's wedding.  The wedding was great and the reception was a ton of fun. The girls did great, both during the drive and at the wedding. At first it seemed like they might have a melt down, but once the Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, etc. etc. stepped up to help out Chloe and Claire got into a happy groove.

I'm glad I'm not a professional photographer. I think there were around 500 pictures on my memory card when I got home and not really any photos to write home about. In my defense, I think Jamie snapped a lot of them (hehe). Anyway, I still have much to learn when it comes to taking great photos, especially outdoors. I'm sure it can be fixed by buying more gear though... *hides from Jamie*

Claire and Chloe had their first birthday party yesterday and it was a great time! We had great food, a lot of family and friends, cake, presents, the works. It is still hard for me to believe that my girls are a year old now. It seems like just yesterday that I was posting this entry.

The girls were playing in the hallway a few nights ago. They are both walking around like champs now, except for the part at the end of the video where Claire slams into the wall.

We headed up to the lake on Saturday. The girls got their first overnight camping experience and Sammie got some much deserved swim time.
